Worldac: A rebound of the global load after Japanese holidays

The cargo load of Asia and the Pacific +8 % jumped in the previous week compared to the previous week (WOW), with the return of economic activity in Japan to normal after the Obon vacation period, which prompted the recovery of the global air charging +4 %.

In a similar pattern for the week in exchange for last year, global air freight volume recovered a week on the week (WOW) after three consecutive weeks of load. After declines by -1 % in weeks 31 and 32 and decreased -6 % per week 33, the global drinkable weight increased +4 % per week 34 (18-24 August). The total price for the second week in a row (+1 %) increased, but remained less than the level seen a year ago.

A closer analysis shows on more than 500,000 weekly transactions covered by WorldADACD data that after a decrease -60 % in the previous week, Japanese exports were recovered +90 %, which constituted 51 % of Wow Asia Pacific and 46 % of the Global Jump. The storage units also increased by 4 % from the Middle East, South Asia (MESA) and +3 % from Africa, while traffic has decreased by 1 % of Central and South America (CSA) and was flat from Europe and North America. The lack of momentum in Europe can still be attributed to the virtual holiday period, as was seen last year.

On the basis of comparing the last two weeks with the previous two -week period (2Wo2W), CSA was the only region that shows growth (+2 %) in the total load, which was driven by an increase +4 % in exports to Europe. Global Tonnage decreased by -5 % on the basis of 2Wo2W, under the leadership of -11 % decline in traffic from Europe, which recorded a decrease between -9 % and -12 % in all major commercial corridors, which is due to the summer vacation. Likewise, the load decreased from North America (decrease -5 % in general), in all directions.

Exports from Asia Pacific Employment show an increase in fractures that are +4 % fracture to the United States of America and +7 % to Europe, which leads to a general increase (YOY) by +3 % and +9 %, respectively. The growth of exports to the United States of America led Japan (+80 %), Thailand (+19 %) and South Korea (+11 %), while China’s external size and Hong Kong decreased to the United States by -1 %. Looking at the growth of trade in Asia and the Pacific (WOW+7 %), Japan (+79 %) and South Korea (+19 %) were the main contributors, but also China and Hong Kong (+4 %).

Increase the moderate price rates less than 2024 level

The average average air freight pricing +1 % Wow increased to $ 2.44, with the largest increase (+4 %) of the Misa region, while North America, CSA and Africa showed an increase +1 %. The rates were flat from Europe and decreased by -1 % of Asia and the Pacific, which were affected by a strong traffic apart in the low -yielding Pacific region. YOY -2 % pricing in general, with Africa (+7 %) and Europe (+2 %) the only assets where rates have risen. The rates decreased by 15 % of Missa and decreased -4 % and -2 %, respectively from Asia, Pacific and CSA, while North America remained flat.

Pricing from Asia and the Pacific Ocean shows a remarkable contrast between the transpacific and Westbound sectors to Europe. While the topical rates of the United States of America decreased by -2 % to a 20 % decrease, prices to Europe +3 % increased to a 2 % decrease. Likewise, the rates from China to the United States weakened -3 %, but +4 % rose to Europe, on the basis of great success.
