Vitol, Sunoco took the first gasoline cargo from Dangote Nigeria to the US, said the source

Global Top Vitol oil traders and North American fuel distributor Sunoco Sun took the shipment of the first US gasoline import from Nigeria’s new dangote refinery on Monday, according to ship tracking data and two sources that were familiar with the problem.

Delivery, at the Gemini Pearl tanker, marked the main milestone for 650,000 barrels per day of the dangote refinery, because the Energy Market participants had been waiting to see when the production would begin to meet the strict standard of fuel of our motorbike.

Vitol bought a Gemini Pearl cargo of around 320,000 barrels of gasoline from Geneva, Mocoh oil based in Switzerland, and sold most of it to Sunoco, according to a source and data tracking data. It is not clear what volume is sold by Vitol to Sunoco and how much will be stored.

The ship issued at the Linden Sunoco facility in the New York port area, the ship tracking data shows.

The source asks anonymity to discuss secret details. Vitol and Sunoco did not immediately respond to requests for comments.

Reuters was the first to report the parties involved in this trade.

Mocoh Oil, which earlier this year, confirmed a partnership with dangote to export products from refineries, not immediately commenting outside working hours in Switzerland.

After a series of startup delays, Dangote Refinery, one of the largest in the world, has re -shaped the flow of global energy by increasing sharp output since last year. It is expected to significantly reduce the import of Nigeria fuel, while exporting surplus, especially to Europe.

The second load of gasoline from dangote to the US is sold by Glencore Glen to Shell Shel on the MH Daisen ship, which will arrive at the New York Port area around September 19, one of the sources said and the tracking data of the ship showed.

Glencore refused to comment, and Shell did not immediately respond.

Vitol also bought from Mocoh, the third load of gasoline made by Dangote Refinery, with ships, the ship will deliver it in the New York Port area around September 22, the source said.

Sources say the purpose of not being sent can change based on market conditions.

While the cargo returns to the expectation that the dangote refinery is regulated to change global energy trading sharply, they tend to be one -time for a while. The refinery gasoline producing unit can be closed for two to three months for repairs, the IIIr Energy Industrial Monitor said earlier this month.

Dangote did not respond to Reuters’ previous requests to comment on blackouts.
