Türkiye is a member of NATO who tried to maintain relations with both Ukraine and Russia throughout the conflict.
In recent days, Trump has continued to express optimism, there could be a deal to end the fighting in Ukraine. Russian forces invaded Ukraine in February 2022 after gathering forces along the border.
Meanwhile, Trump and other officials acknowledged that the United States may back down its efforts to mediate a ceasefire if there is no progress.
“I think we are closer to one party,” Trump said in an interview with “Meet The Press” on Sunday. “Five thousand soldiers per week are on average, they die. They are not American soldiers. But I want to solve the problem.”
