These Skullcandy Earbuds are almost $50 off
Skullcandy is cracked Code on one of my requested features for wireless headphones. Unlike almost every other pair I own, dropping the charging case doesn’t send the headphones flying across the room. For my fellow clumsies, I’m happy to report that the Skullcandy Method 360 ANC (8/10, WIRED review) has been marked down at several retailers. I found the best price on the white (Bone) pair on Amazon, but if you don’t mind paying a little extra, some of the other colors are on sale.
While the closed case is my favorite thing about these headphones, they also have great active noise cancellation. This is largely thanks to the partnership with Bose, one of the best in the business when it comes to ANC, which gives them a truly impressive level of sound insulation and noise reduction, especially for the price.
The sound profile has clearly taken notes from Bose, too, with our reviewer Parker Hall saying, “This mid-range listening experience has real life, with vocals, piano, guitar and other central instruments each occupying their own musical space.” He was also impressed by the wide stereo image, which can bring panning to life, and the intricate details that stand out in good isolation and tuning.
Of course, if you want to tweak the experience, you can use the mobile app to adjust button functionality or change the equalizer profile for your preferred style of music. There are also noise canceling and transparency mode settings, the latter of which works great for hearing traffic while walking the dog.
The downside here is that the whole setup is a bit bulky. These headphones have a substantial back that sits inside your ear, making them a bit more noticeable than some of our other favorite headphones. The case, while great for keeping your headphones in one place when you grab them off the kitchen counter, is also on the large side and a bit awkward to use at first. Still, for under $100 you get great ANC, quality audio specs, and a comfortable fit, which I think is worth the price.
