There is no better alternative to the World Health Organization

When President Trump issued an executive withdrawing from the World Health Organization on his first day, he pledged to “identify the World Health Organization and the United States and transparently to assume the World Health Organization previously carried out by the World Health Organization.”

Since that time, the president’s supporters have doubled the idea that we can find an alternative to the World Health Organization through many ports, including this opinion page.

But the truth is that we cannot and will not do that. The only thing that will happen with the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization, stop all funding and teach and prevent control centers so that not to communicate with the agency is that we will become weaker and more isolated. In fact, as if it were despite the president, the world has just happened without the United States and is about to adopt an unprecedented pandemic treaty without us.

The United States and all countries have an unrestricted power to define its national health policies – sovereignty recognized by both the international health regulations and the sympathetic Treaty of the epidemic. There is no BOGEYMAN here.

But more importantly, of all this is the fact that there is no alternative, general or private organization, which has the constitutional, legitimacy, infrastructure and government confidence around the world to exchange information, cooperation with partners to save the weak population, and gather resources at times of threat.

Ghebreyesus is one of the most famous and reliable public figures in the world.
