The Swiss leader says that planning for “distinguished” commercial negotiations with 15 countries



The President of the Swiss Confederation Union, Karen Keeler, said on Thursday that the United States plans to what he called “distinguished” trade negotiations with 15 countries, as President Trump’s agenda threatens to target to the global market.

Keeler Street, during her visit to Washington on Thursday, told reporters that Switzerland is one of the countries that the Trump administration is looking to conclude a new trade deal. It is not clear which other countries are included, according to Associated Press.

The Swiss leader said in an interview with the broadcaster SRF, which was released on Friday, that the United States “envisaged – and I would say somewhat negotiations – and negotiations to find solutions.”

She added that she was “satisfied” about the discussion held in Washington, which included an individual meeting with Treasury Secretary Scott Beesen and attending the spring meetings in the International Monetary Fund.

Keeler Street pointed out that both the United States and Switzerland agreed to formulate a “letter of intentions”, which clarifies the most important topics they want to divide, and that “we were also appointed as a specific person in contact.”

“We discussed the main economic issues and opportunities to enhance cooperation between the two countries,” she added, referring to its meeting on Thursday with Bessent.

As part of his latest introductory announcement, which targeted almost all foreign commercial partners, Trump imposed an import tax of 31 percent on Swiss goods coming to the United States at a later time, the President stopped most of the 90 -day mutual definitions to leave a maneuvering space for negotiations, leaving his basic tariff by 10 percent on most imports.

“The American authorities have clearly expressed their desire to find a solution with Switzerland,” Keeler Street told SRF.

During the interview, she confirmed that the two sides must find a solution, because the changing economic scene affects the Swiss industries and families.
