Texas State Senate Bill passes the case manufacturers, abortion pill suppliers to sue
The Texas State has approved a bill to allow them to sue by making or distribute abortion drugs outside and outside the state, and the law is now moving towards Governor Greg Abbott (R) desk.
Senators voted for House Bill 7 to 8 from 17 to 8, which allows private citizens to get $ 100,000 compensation as compensation of successful suit against drug makers and distributors. Abbott is expected to sign the law on the law.
Under the bill, almost a private citizen can file a lawsuit against abortion drug makers or distributors, one of the exceptions of Texas women who take abortion drugs to end pregnancy.
State Senator Brian Hughes (R), the author of the bill, argues that it is helpless and “valuable, slightly unborn children” and their mothers to protect against “poisonous, illicit drugs”.
“If you are to produce poisonous illegal drugs in Texas and ship ships and damage people, you will be held accountable,” he said during the vote on Wednesday night. “We do not ask for any pardon for that. Texas must protect our citizens, and this is the bill.”
State Senator Carol Alvardo (D) was one of the four democratic lawmakers who spoke against the bill before the vote. He cautioned that HB7, Texas Woman and Child Protection Act also called Texas to “Surveillance State” to damage women, children and families that encouraged each other to sue each other for cash.
“This bill does not protect women, children or family,” he said. “It punishes them.”
“Imagine that the person behind you in the pharmacy is for fear of living in your own family, even in your own family. Each word, every prescription, every personal conversation can be twisted as proof that is not freedom or protection, it is not surveillance and isolation.”
This bill is the latest step in the square of the Texas Republicans in the state of the Texas Republicans and will present more challenges on abortion shield laws in the Democratic -led state.
Texas almost completely banned abortion and imposed heavy penalties on people who violate their abortion law. However, due to the availability of miscarriage drugs in the state, abortion is still occurring in the state, which can access Texans through telehews suppliers located in the states, including abortion Shield Law.
Two high-profile legal tests of abortion shield laws have come from the Loan Star State.
Texas attorney general filed a woman in New York in December for allegedly sending an abortion to a woman in Pacston, and in July, a Texas man filed a civic case against a California doctor for allegedly supplying abortion, a woman from Texas, a woman from Texas.
In both cases, abortion shield law cases made in the Home State have been challenging.
State Senator Molly Cook (D), emergency room nurse, mentions that the bill “will increase the national conflict” is probably “Texas” with other states “to another legal war”, including the disorganic abortion law.
A revised version of the bill passed the Lower Chamber of the Texas State Legislative Assembly last week during the second special session of Abbott.
Anti -abortion groups celebrate that the bill has revised, which they argue, now protects women’s privacy and prevent financial enthusiasm.
“It is already illegal for traffic abortion drugs in Texas under the Human Life Protection Act, and our priority is in the case of that and other laws under the Human Life Protection Act.” “The modified version of HB7 provides another equipment against illegal abortion-mail when incorporating important protection for women.”
