Skycargo is investing the UAE in hydrogen trucks
As part of its continuous commitment to implementing fuel saving initiatives through ground operations, Skycargo, in cooperation with the ALID transport company, will add hydrogen powers to its truck transport fleet. Currently in production, trucks will be organized to the fleet by the first quarter of 2026.
The Emirati truck fleet includes more than 60 trucks and works as a transport between Dubai World Central (DWC) and Dubai International Airport (DXB), as well as the broader local area. The airline will publish five hydrogen trucks, which represents a major milestone in the company’s gradual transition to alternative fuel cars. The addition of these trucks is expected to add carbon dioxide emissions in Skycargo, while contributing to the air quality better.
Hydrogen trucks, such as current diesel compounds, can carry up to 28 tons of goods, ensuring that there is no compromise on the capacity. They will be supplied with fuel at two stations dedicated to supplying hydrogen in Dubai-the exhibition city and Qudra Dewa, and the full tank can provide a set of 700 km, to ensure a smooth and low-emission transfer to Skycargo customers.

Hydrogen trucks are tractor units, compatible with a variety of trailers to accommodate different types of goods, ensuring that the Skycargo UAE can meet the various customer needs while reducing the environmental imprint.
Reducing emissions is one of the main pillars of the environmental sustainability framework of the Emirates, with multiple initiatives dedicated to effective operations. In 2023, Emirates Airlines achieved the first phase of the UAE (INVA) the first phase and certificates of the illegal wildlife trade unit INVA, which is a testimony of the long airline commitment to the influential environmental sustainability initiatives.
