Scientists go to blouse
In each Shifman and Wester, the “vast majority” of the respondents said that Bluski has a “vibrant and healthy online scientific community”, while Twitter is no longer doing so. And many Bluesky users have reported that they talk more about it, so -called Bluesky. They may have fewer followers, but these followers are much more involved: for example, a person with 50,000 Twitter/X followers may receive five likes in a given post. But in Bluesky, they may only have 5,000 followers, but their posts receive 100 likes.
According to Shiffman, Twitter has always been the top three in terms of traffic for referrals for southern fried science. Then the “suspicious” came and suddenly the Twitter reference did not even leave the top 10. In contrast, in 2025, Blueski has directed “100 times more than the screen” to the southern fried science as Twitter. Interestingly, “The blog post that has gained the most view of the page from Twitter is a matter of this article.”
Conner McCainni, the ARS social media director, confirmed that ARS Technica also witnessed Twitter referral traffic in 2025. In addition, “I can say that the story we’ve seen during the summer is first out of our Twitter traffic.” “We have been sent to this platform most of the time and our audience has grown significantly,” he said. “It is estimated that our audience has grown 63 % since January. In general, the platform has grown a lot. They had 10 million users in September last year and the last numbers show that they are 38 million users.”
Bubble, Schmidb
In the case of scientists who are looking to share scientific articles online, Schiffman has drawn altmetrics for his new article and Wester. “This is one of the 10 joint articles in the history of the journal on social media,” he said. “If the goal shows that there is a more active scientific dialogue about blues – I mean damn,” he said.
And while there has been a lasting drama of late media in some of the heritage media accusing blues trapped in their liberal bubble, Shiffman has little concern for one. “I don’t care about this, because I do not use social media to argue with strangers about politics,” he wrote in a blog post. “I use social media to talk about fish. When I talk about fish in blues, people ask me. When I talk about fish on Twitter, people threaten to kill my family because we are Jewish.” He compared the current Twitter visualization as better than the 4chan or Truthsocial in terms of the percentage of “conscientious conspiracy extremists”. “Even if you want to stay, the algorithm works against you,” he wrote.
“There was a lot of opinion on why blues are not useful because people are therefore tend to be relatively left -wing,” Schiffman told ARS. “I haven’t seen any of the same people who say Twitter is bad because it is relatively appropriate. Twitter is not a representative of the public.” And given his focus on ocean protection and data -based environmental focus, the axis is likely to make the audience more involved and convincing in blues.
