Schumer: Trump, the leaders of the Republican Party “divided” on health insurance subsidies in the financing bill

The Democratic Leader of the Senate Chuck Schumer (New York) said that the rift emerges between President Trump and the leaders of the Republican Party in Congress on whether a short -term government financing bill will be used to prevent health insurance premiums from the rise next year due to the end of the enhanced subsidies at the end of this year.

Shomer said, referring to the majority leader of the Senate John Thun (RS.D): “The focus was particularly on health care. When we performed these arguments, it was clear that there was a possible section or a possible division between the president and Republican leaders,” referring to the majority leader of the Senate John Thun (RS.

Shomer met with Trump, Thne, Johnson and House House, Hakeem Jeffries (DN.Y.) at the White House on Monday afternoon to discuss government funding, which is scheduled to end at 11:59 pm on Tuesday. Democrats demand the extension of improved health insurance subsidies, as well as other health care provisions, in exchange for their vote to keep the government open.

Shomer said the leaders of the Republican Party “wanted to kick the problem of health care on the road.”

But the democratic leader said that Trump seemed more sympathetic to the suffering of ordinary Americans who would see their installments rising and may lose health care.

“There was a real division because when we talked to the president about the problems of health care and a woman she met and she was crying because she said that her daughter was losing her health care, her daughter had cancer … He did not realize that the Americans would push, just as the Americans, over December,” refer to Trump. “

“He did not realize that the real influence of this begins on October 1, not December 31,” Schumer added.

Thun questioned the description of Shomer for the meeting.

“I think Shomer is desperate to change the topic. I don’t know what he is talking about. I mean that we are all on the same page,” said Thun.

Thne and Johnson said that they aim to address the tax credits for expired health care later this year, but they are opposed with their attachment to the financing that must pass by the date of September 30.

Schumer said that Jeffrez confirmed both imminent health care subsidies under reasonable prices (ACA) and the problem of pocket rescue and payment operations, which they consider attempts to prepare the spending in Congress.

Schumer said that he urged Trump to prevail in Republican leaders to add the seven -week -long Stopgap language to expand ACA and processing pocket rescue operations.

“The president told us that it could solve the problem by asking for legislative leaders, Thne and Johnson, that we start with ACA- just take our judgment on ACA and put it in their bill.”

“He is in the hands of the president whether or not it should be avoided. He must persuade Republican leaders. Now we know why they don’t want to meet with us,” Schumer added.
