Schumer for Trump: No Nobel Peace Prize “Selling Ukraine”
The representative of the minority leader of the Senate Chuck Schumer (DN.Y) President Trump early on Saturday after his high meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin ended in Alaska without a deal, accusing the president of “sale” Ukraine.
He wrote on the social media platform X.
His criticism comes days after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton mocked Trump for the desired prize if he succeeds in pressuring the ceasefire agreement outside the Russian leader.
Trump and Putin met at the joint base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Alaska on Friday to discuss for about three hours. While the details of the conversation were not issued, the president described the meeting as a “producer” and indicated that during progress, the deal was not yet on the table.
“We didn’t get there, but we have a good opportunity,” he told reporters in the wake of the summit, but we did not get there. The President later briefed NATO leaders and Europeans – who responded to double their support for Ukraine – the meeting.
Shomer, in separate comments late Friday, accused Trump of offering the red carpet of Putin, which he called “authoritarian bullying”.
“Instead of standing with Ukraine and our allies, Trump stood side by side with Autocrat who terrorized the Ukrainian people and the ball for years,” wrote on X. While we are waiting for the critical details of what was discussed – at first, it seems that Trump had delivered it to Trump, a global stage, the responsibility of zero, and nothing in return. “
“Our fear is that this was not diplomacy – it was just a theater,” added Democrat in New York.
Trump defended the results of the summit in an interview with Sean Hanity from Fox News late on Friday, saying that it was up to Putin and Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski to reach an agreement. Trump is expected to meet on Monday at the Oval Office.
Clinton said earlier this week that she would support Trump’s endeavor to obtain the Nobel Peace Prize if he was able to negotiate the end of a war of more than three years that deny the Kremlin calls for Ukrainian lands. The President later expressed his gratitude for his previous opponent’s statements.
Zelinski has prompted Trump’s suggestion that any truce might probably require the exchange of lands in the areas that Russia has seized since its invasion of 2022 to Ukraine.
“We will never leave Donbas,” Ukrainian leader told reporters on Tuesday.
