President of Texas A & M to step down after turmoil

The University of Texas A &M University said on Thursday that the President of the University of Texas A &M Mark Welsh will step down on Friday after disturbances were caught about the lesson of sexual identity.

Wales, a former Air Force pilot and heads of joint staff, received a reaction from Republican lawmakers in recent days due to a viral video where a student challenged a professor, Melissa McCall, regarding sexual content in the children’s literature course.

The state’s deputy, Brian Harrison (R), shared the video on September 8 after he blew over the Internet and attracted the attention of other legislators in Texas. It was launched a few days later. Two officials were removed, but the changes did not satisfy some legislators, including Lieutenant Dan Patrick (R), who has argued Wales and did not deal correctly with the situation.

“President Wales is an honor man who led Texas A &M with non -selfish dedication,” Chancellor Glenn Hagar said in a statement on Thursday. “We are grateful for his service and contributions. At the same time, we agree that now is the right moment to make a change and position of Texas A&M to continue excellence in the coming years.”

The school’s board of directors of the national research for a permanent president and appoints a temporary president to ensure a smooth transition.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) threatened to shoot at Wales earlier this year after accusing him of a school of violation of the state’s ban on the efforts of diversity, fairness and integration.

Abbott cannot shoot Welsh, but he can appoint the school board, who have this authority.

“The legacy of General Wales in leadership and service will always be remembered by the AGGIE family. The Referees Council is united to ensure that this transition enhances the future of the university and preserves the Texas A&M for its mission and values.”

Wales is the most recent school president to leave this year after receiving a violent reaction.

Earlier this month, the President of Northwestern University Michael Shell said he would resign. The school dealt with battles with the President of Trump and the protests on the campus.

The temporary president of the University of Colombia resigned in May amid the Battle of the Foundation with the administration for the freezing of federal financing and criticism about its response to the pro -events protests.
