Lavrov: Any aggression against Russia will be met with a “decisive response”

On Saturday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that any aggressive measures towards Russia will face a “decisive response.”

His message follows speculation from some NATO members that the Kremlin can aim to expand his war with Ukraine to other Eastern European countries, after Russian aircraft recently turned to Estonia and drones were tracked in the Polish and Roman airspace.

“Russia had no such intentions,” Lavrov said on Saturday to threaten the European borders.

“However, any aggression against my decisive response will be confronted. There should be no doubt about this between those in NATO and the“ European Union), and he added during a speech on Saturday at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

World leaders carefully measure the Kremlin’s efforts to end the war in Ukraine after Russia has invaded its neighbor more than three years ago. On Thursday, Lavrov accused NATO and the European Union of declaring a “real war” with Russia and directly participating in the conflict in Ukraine, adding that the two multilateral organizations “participate directly in this”, according to a translation of the Russian media in its meetings at the G20 meeting of the United Nations of the United Nations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin met President Trump in August in an attempt to negotiate the ceasefire with Ukraine, but the talks stopped face to face in Alaska. Since then, Putin has ordered strikes on the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, and made deadly attacks on other cities in the country.

Lavrov claimed on Saturday that Putin’s plans were to contain the war to Ukraine.

Lavrov said: “The threats of power against Russia, who is practically planned to attack the NATO and the European Union, has become increasingly common,” Lavrov said. “President Putin has repeatedly exposed such provocations. Russia has never had and had no intentions, but any aggression against my country will be fulfilled with a decisive response.”

The Foreign Minister admitted concerns about the entry of drones into foreign airspace and said he understood the efforts made to alleviate security threats if the border was breached.

“Try to understand that a drone, when flying is not over our lands, but if you cross the borders of someone but left our air space, everyone may have to do this by drone everything they consider necessary to ensure his security,” Lavrov said at a press conference after his statements.

“But if there are attempts to drop any flying object, or in reality any object at all, on our lands, in our air field, I think people will regret it seriously, and pledge to such a serious violation of our regional safety and our sovereignty.”
