Johnny Eve says he wants to make his OpenAi devices “happy”
In Openai A developer conference in San Francisco, CEO of Sam Altman and former Apple Designer Jonny Eve, spoke to vague terms about the “family of devices” that the couple is currently developing.
“As much as phones and computers are excellent, there is a new job to do,” Altman said at the scene. The double confirmed that Openai works on more than one hardware product, but more detailed details, from use to specifications, remain below the packages.
“Hardware is hard to identify that new factors are hard computing,” Altman said at a media justification for the early day. “I think we have the opportunity to do amazing work, but it takes a while.”
Ive said his team has created the ideas of “15 to 20 really convincing products” on the trip to find the correct type of hardware to focus on the company’s efforts.
“I don’t think we have an easy relationship with our technology right now,” Yves said. “Instead of seeing artificial intelligence as expanding those challenges, I see it very different.” Ive explained that one of the reasons he wanted to design an AI with Openai is to change people’s relationships with the devices they use every day.
While IVE confirms the potential of artificial intelligence to increase productivity, it does not appear to be his main purpose with these devices. Instead, he hopes to bring more social good to the world. “The devices should” make us happy, realize, and be more peaceful and less anxious and less separated, “he said.
Previous reports indicated that Openai was planning to build a new category of hardware that doesn’t look like a phone or laptop. In a recent preview for Openai employees, Altman stated that the product is aware of the user’s surroundings and daily experiences, according to the Wall Street Journal. This device may be curtain and rely on cameras and microphones inputs.
Openai was also not publicly stated when planning to launch devices, although according to Financial Times, the goal may be the goal in late 2026. The magazine recently reported that the development of the device has been affected by technical issues.
