How to hack a poker game
Michael Culver: Yeah, my favorite obscure product placement was HBO’s Entourage. It was on TV 15 years ago, I don’t know.
Lauren Good: oh i remember
Michael Culver: And the characters would say to each other, “I’ll BBM it for you.”
Lauren Good: Not a time capsule
Michael Culver: Yes, even if you have a blackberry-
Lauren Good: Yes, you never said that
Michael Culver: No one has ever said that.
Lauren Good: No, that is very true.
Michael Culver: They were texting you.
Lauren Good: Unbelievable
Michael Culver: But no, I’ll BBM it to you.
Andy Greenberg: Just the fact that we even know what BBM-ing is somehow means it worked.
Lauren Good: Or maybe more, “Guys what is this? I don’t remember it. I’m too young.” Okay, Andy, give us your WIRED, TIRED.
Andy Greenberg: Well, I’m not a video game reporter, but I bought – everyone was talking about this game Silk Song. It was $20 on the Switch. I bought it for my 9 year old son and thought I would play this cute little game and I can’t believe how hard it is. No one talks about the fact that this super popular game – will make you cry. Like me, not my son, like me, an adult. I can’t stop playing it.
But I’ve been more frustrated playing this game than anything else in my life or work for years. This is the process of watching my very amateur video games, for a while all of these games were really easy Candy Crush and Farmville and angry bird Things you basically can’t miss. And people seem to like it and the games became super easy. And now it seems like we’re in an era where games are insanely hard, including casual games for kids that are actually some of the most challenging things you’ll ever do in your life. And actually I think it’s great. So yeah, I’d say TIRED is the easy games and WIRED is the ridiculously hard games that make me cry.
