HECKSAR launches sustainable flight certificates (SAFC) for the airline
- As part of the increasing sustainability efforts, HECKSHER is implementing a new method for companies to tackle the climate effect of air charging: SAFC.
- SAFC is a market -based mechanism that exceeds the environmental feature of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from the material product through a “book and demand” system and has become an important tool to reduce the environmental impact of the basic travel travel.
SAF is made of approved sustainable raw materials, such as used cooking oil and other remaining waste materials. Fuel appeared as a reliable solution to remove carbon in the aviation industry because it can reduce life cycle emissions by up to 80 percent, according to IATA.
“We have already taken important steps to reduce emissions in Seafreight. SAFC’s purchase of AirFeright supports the replacement of fossil kirosene and provides an enforceable and transparent and developed solution for companies that look forward to processing range 3 of their emissions without having to change tankers, track or operating preparation.”
How to work
- HECKSHER calculates air customer emissions
- The customer chooses the SAFC amount – match each or part of his emissions
- SAFC represents a size of the physical SAF used to replace kerosene in commercial operations. Via Book & Plains Hecksher has the exclusive rights to reduce ultimate user emissions, which is recorded in the SAFC record
- SAFC publicly records all supported emissions and only allows the SAFC version as the material SAF meet strict quality controls such as checking the third quality, thus ensuring full transparency and avoiding double version/ claim
- The customer receives a digital certificate that includes all SAFC properties that support the environmental claim.
“We have found a cost -effective solution that allows us to provide SAF at the purchase price. This means that our customers can buy SAF at a lower cost compared to many other service providers,” says Patrick Westeros, head of sustainability in the Greencarrier Group, which includes HECKSHER.
It was delivered in partnership with the STX group
The Safc Initiative is delivered in partnership with the Trader Commodities Trader Trader.
“We congratulate HECKSHER and Greencarrier on taking this important step by implementing Safc. It is encouraging to see the shift towards renewable fuel, and in StX, we are proud to support these pioneers by providing access to markets and liquidity in SAFC.”
