Ford recalls 290,000 cars due to a problem related to the safety of the rear view camera

Ford has issued a recall notice for more than 291,000 vehicles due to a potential rearview camera issue that causes the image to display incorrectly in certain lighting conditions.

The recall notice said that a problem with the 360-degree camera system may reduce the driver’s vision behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of an accident.

The recall affects 2020-2022 F-250 SD, F-350 SD, and F-450 SD vehicles.

Letters notifying vehicle owners of the recall are expected to be mailed Monday, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said. Another letter will be mailed once final treatment is ready, which is expected to be in March, according to the notice.

Dealers will update the image processing unit software for free once it is available.

Ford’s recall number is 25SA8.
