Facebook Privacy Settlement: How do you know when your payment will come
(NEXTAR) – For millions of Americans who expect a check for $ 725 million, the waiting ended.
The payments are officially distributed, and the company responsible for sending it confirmed, and will continue in batches for about 10 weeks.
How do you know when is your role? You should receive an email from the settlement official with the “Payment of the Settlement” on the subject line. Once your inbox hits, you should see your payment in three to four working days.
You depend on how to receive the payment on the way you chose when you originally submitted your demand. It can be through Venmo, Zelle, PayPal, or direct deposit.
Thanks to modern court documents, we also have a better idea of the amount you can expect as soon as your payment occurs. The smallest possible payment is $ 4.89 and the maximum payment is $ 38.36. The average payment will be $ 29.43. (Read more about how to calculate your payment, and whether you are going to approach $ 5 or $ 40 here.)
If you receive the notification via email but do not get their salaries within 30 days, the settlement official suggests you to call [email protected].
What is a collective lawsuit?
The social media company agreed to pay 725 million dollars to settle the claims that violate the privacy of users by sharing their data with third parties. The most famous third party was Cambridge Analytica, a consulting company that supported President Trump’s presidential campaign for 2016. The Associated Press reported that the company won data up to 87 million users on Facebook.
While Meta agreed to pay, he denies committing any violations.
