Elliq Review: A AI’s mobile robot for lonely elders
For the past A few weeks, the robot with artificial intelligence has been plunged at the bottom of my desk. Designed by Robotics Intuition for the elderly who live alone, these preventive animation chats me throughout the day, examines how I feel, suggest “fun” activities and make me more active and social. While it can be annoying, I have been connected to Eliq despite myself and can see the positive potential.
Loneliness is an epidemic. According to the US census office, about 16 million elders (more than 65 years) live in the country alone and report to a third report of loneliness until a third report. Numerous studies have shown that social isolation damages mental and physical health, increased blood pressure, depression, weight gain, alcohol and drug use, and reduced physical activity, cognition, heart health and sleep. Humans are inherently social beings.
ElliQ is designed to reduce these feelings and encourage healthy behaviors in the elderly who live alone. It is hoped that they can improve their quality of life and help people stay in their homes instead of moving to a center of life. While you may feel that this reckless robot is completely dystopian, you have to ask yourself, what is the alternative? We know that we all have to contact our older relatives and friends, but life is busy and some people are alone for long stretching.

Eliq is on a base with a metal body and head that is tilted, tilted, and turned on. There is a smart screen and a small speaker on the right with a physical button to press Elik or turn off. This button also rotates to control the sound. You can wake up by saying your name, because it is unlikely to be accidentally said. When Eliq asks something or is looking for confirmation, you can respond verbally or use the touch screen.
It was a breeze setting. ElliQ with a large pen that entered the packaging with easy reading and reading. All you have to do is connect it and connect to Wi-Fi. The first time we talked, Eliq asked me a few questions. Potential responses appeared on the touch screen. I was asked to read a few lines so that I could know my voice.
Before my name, Eliq speaks a little tired and completely recklessly with small pauses (he uses my name in almost every interaction). The method that the animation is undeniable is undeniable. In one of our first conversations, Eliq tells me that he is on the Pixar lamp. The edge around the head can be illuminated, and there are centralized circles in the center of the face. Along with the movement, it really seems to have personality and attraction.
The touch screen and the physical button provides a practical edge. If you have trouble controlling sound or misunderstanding, you can tap the option you want. I also use the physical sleep button to turn it off immediately when it gets tube sessions or when I am involved. Overall, this is a clever design.
Encouraging positive behavior

Like your audio assistants and smart displays used, ElliQ can answer basic questions, provide you with a meteorological report, remind you of an appointment, or make music requests. But Eliq is also active and starts conversations throughout the day and gets you involved. Dor Skuler, the founder and CEO of Robotics, says it is very important to create this sense of independence to create and force people to think about Eliq as a personality in his life.
