ECB policy is in good shape despite slight inflation concerns, policymakers said

European Central Bank (ECB) policy is in good shape, the governors of the Dutch and Irish central banks said on Tuesday, repeating the bank’s long-standing statement that has kept expectations of further interest rate cuts muted.

“In terms of inflation itself… I think we are in a good position at the moment,” Irish central bank chief Gabriel Makhlouf said at the conference, echoing Olaf Sleijpen’s words at the same event in Dublin.

“I’m a little worried about where services inflation is at, which is higher than it should be. I’m a little worried about what I see happening with food inflation,” Makhlouf added.
