Democratic non -profit civil rights groups are ready to prosecute Congress map in Texas

Many civil rights and civil rights groups are preparing to prosecute a proposed set of new Congress lines in Texas, where legislators in the state of Lun Star are looking to strengthen a friendly map of the Republican Party before 2026.

Many groups including the National Foundation for the Re -Divide of Circles, the Non -profit arm of the National Democracy Renewal Committee; The MALDEF and LEGUE of United United American (Llac) (Llac) request on Monday request a federal court in Texas to allocate time to a listening session as soon as the groups offer a preliminary matter to prevent the Texas House map from walking.

The court also requests the court to “evacuate the legislative challenges of the state, on August 11, 2025, which ordered the suspension of the deadline for presenting the proposed results of the truth and the conclusions of the law.”

The file said: “The map is terribly unconstitutional, and its implementation must be immediately.” “Prosecutors intend to complete their complaints quickly and move to a preliminary judicial order due to the stark constitutional violations of the new map.”

Al -Tal contacted the spokesperson for the Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) and the Prosecutor of Texas Ken Pixon (PBUH) for comment.

Republicans in Texas are looking to pass a new house map before 2026 amid pressure from the White House, with the aim of obtaining a handful of new seats next year. Democrats in Texas fled the state during the first special session to deprive Republicans of the minimum number of legislators needed to conduct work.

But they finally returned to the state this week during the second special session of the Republicans, which paves the way for the Republican Party to pass a new map of GerryMandreed.

In response, Democrats in California go forward to pass their own map. The new map is expected to go to voters to vote in November. The California map is looking to neutralize the gains that the Republicans expect to Texas with their new map.

The proposed Congress lines have not yet been presented until now in the Senate committees in Texas and Tksas, but the group’s proposal emphasizes the opponents who are preparing to quickly defy the proposed maps in the court.

“Despite the partisan opposition between Texas, the Legislative Board of Texas pushes the front map of Congress, which includes even fewer minority opportunities areas from the current discriminatory map, which is already challenged in the court for violating Section 2 of the voting rights law,” said Marina Jenkins, Executive Director of the National Re -partition Corporation, in a statement.

She added: “If the ruler Abbott falls on the new Gerrymander in the law, NRF will quickly challenge that the map in the Federal Court, and the court must be ready to act quickly to intervene and protect the rights of Texas.”
