CNN’s Collins, Leavitt Spar about whether Trump is undermining “Gabbard”
CNN pressed the White House press secretary Caroline Levitte on Wednesday about the comments made by President Trump last month that Collins said “Lotion”, the director of national intelligence, Toulcy Gabbard.
Gabbard joined Levitte at a White House press conference on Wednesday and spoke to reporters about the latest documents of her office who claimed that Obama administration officials had misled the public about the intelligence surrounding Russian intervention in the 2016 elections.
Collins asked Gabbard to respond to those who say, “You only launch these documents to improve your position with the president after he said that your intelligence assessments were wrong.”
Levitt later responded on behalf of Gabbard and pushed again the hypothesis of Collins.
“Who says that? She will issue this to try to enhance her position with the president? Who said that?” Levitte Collins asked.
Collins replied, “The president has publicly undermined it when it comes to Iran.” “He said she was wrong. He told me that she did not know what she was talking about. It was one air force on the camera.”
The journalist was referring to the last month when the President was asked about the evaluation of his intelligence community that there was no evidence that Iran was about to build a nuclear weapon, which was at odds with the president’s point of view.
“My intelligence community is wrong,” Trump said at the time. About Gabbard, he added, “It’s wrong.”
But Levitte denied that the president was lacking in the belief in Jabard and the finger referred to the press for his suggestion otherwise.
“The only people who suggest that the Director of National Intelligence will issue evidence to try to enhance its position with the president are the people in this room, who are trying to constantly sow confidence and chaos between the Council of Ministers, and does not work,” Levitte said.
“I am with the President of the United States every day. He has a maximum confidence in director Gabbard. He is always so. He continues this, and this is true for the entire cabinet, which all works as one team to make on the promises made by this president.”
