Chinese crude oil imports August rose 4.9% from July, up 0.8% in the year


Chinese crude oil imports rose 0.8% in August from the previous year due to the refinery owned by the state and independently maintaining a high level of operation.

The largest crude oil importer in the world brought 49.49 million metric tons of crude oil in August, equivalent to 11.65 million barrels per day, data from the Customs General Administration was shown on Thursday. The volume also rose 4.9% from 47.2 million tons in July, the data showed.

The total import of crude oil from January to August was established at 376.05 million tons, or 11.3 million BPD, up 2.5% from the same period last year, customs data showed.

The level of operation in the permanent state -owned refinery has not changed at a high level of 82.55%, while the operating level in the independent refinery is 54.59%, up 3.43 points of percentage from the end of July, according to China Sublime Information Consultation.

Data on Monday also showed that Chinese processed fuel exports rose 8.4% in August to 5.33 million tons from the previous year.

Imports of natural gas-including pipe gas and natural gas-lids of 0.8% year-to-year to 11.85 million tons, data shows.

Natural gas imports from January to August dropped 5.9% to 81.91 million tons; However, August imports reached the highest level in 11 months, according to Reuters records.
