Charlie Kirk’s shooting suspect as prosecutor is looking for a death penalty
Utah prosecutors accused Tyler Robinson on Tuesday of shooting from a conservative activist Charlie Kirk at the University of Utah Valley, a murder official say it was politically political. They intend to seek the death penalty.
Jeff Gray, the Utah city prosecutor, announced the indictment at a noon news conference, and on the list of intensified murder charges, the criminal evacuation of the firearms caused serious physical damage and committed a violent crime in the presence of the child. Robinson, 22, is also accused of two counts of obstruction and two cases of manipulation.
“Charlie Kirk was killed while involved in one of the most sacred and cherished American rights,” Gary said. “Our Democratic Republic platform free exchange of ideas in search of truth, understanding and union is more complete.”
Gary said the murder is an intensified crime because it is thought to have been motivated by the victim’s political expression. “I do not make this decision slowly, and this is the decision that I have been independently as a city lawyer based solely on the existing evidence and the nature of the crime,” he added.
Robinson will perform his first court appearance at 3pm on Tuesday.
Kirk, 31, was shot dead on September 10 while asking the students. The founder of Turning Point USA, he played a young galvanized conservative and played an important role in the return of Donald Trump’s White House in 2024.
The shooting created chaos on the campus, where emergency delayed and contradictory warnings made many students and colleges confused. Researchers claim to link Robinson’s forensic evidence to shooting, I wish Patel, FBI manager Fox and friends That DNA was found in accordance with the towel wrapped around the rifle and was restored on the screwdriver from the roof where the fatal shot was fired. Patel also said the researchers believe Robinson wrote a note of his claim to kill crack, claiming that the attack was predetermined.
The indictment released on Tuesday adds clear details to these claims. Prosecutors say they captured Robinson’s climb on a university roof and placed in a “shooter position” and fired about 160 meters away. Researchers recovered the cartridges on the scene with hand -grapping messages, which prosecutors argue, point out predictions and motivations.
The prosecutors also cited interviews with parents and Robinson’s roommate, who said he was angry that Crack “extends too much hatred” and confessed that “he has enough hatred”. The case most claims that Robinson told his roommate to remain silent if the police were approaching and the children were visible near the stages when the crack was shot dead – prosecutors say the seriousness of the crime would exacerbate the crime.
The indictment recounts an interview with Robinson’s mother, who told the researchers that his son grew more politically last year “and began to rely on the left,” the indictment based on “gay proof” and “transnational rights”. He described him as increasing consumption by online debates and discontent, pointing out that his consolidation with political issues in the weeks leading to shooting appears to be intensified.
