Baltic index rises with a higher level of capsize and supramax
The Transportation Index of Sea Utik Baltik, which measures the tariff for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, rises on Friday because of the higher rates in the Castesize and Supramax Vessel segments.
The main index, which tracks the tariff for shipping shipping ships, Panamax and Supramax, rose 8 points, or 0.4%, to 2,025 points, recorded a 4.2%weekly increase, the best week since July 21.
The Castesize Index gained 41 points, or 1.4%, to 2,925 points. The index recorded a weekly increase of 4.7%, but fell by around 9.7% in that month.
The average daily income for capsizing ships, which usually carry 150,000 tons of cargo such as iron ore and coal, rose $ 339 to $ 24,257.
Iron ores that are traded in a narrow range on Friday, but are determined for weekly profits, supported by stable demand from leading Chinese consumers and decreased inventory.
The Panamax index fell 27 points, or 1.4%, at 1,847 points, but it increased 4.4% for this week and 11.3% for the month.
The average daily income for Panamax ships, which usually carry 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or seeds, down $ 242 to $ 16,623.
Among the smaller ships, the Supramax index rose 4 points, or 0.3%, to 1,465 points, up for the fourth consecutive week and recorded a weekly increase of 2.9%.
