Atlanta officer was killed in the shooting that the police say it is likely to target the Disease Control Center
Local officials said on Friday that the shooting that left a police officer seemed to target the CDC and prevention control centers (CDC) in Atlanta.
“We can tell you that multiple rounds have been launched, both of whom we believe in the application of law and perhaps in the center of diseases. On intentionally, we cannot say that categorically, but it seems that we cannot exclude that now,” Atlanta Darren Sherbum Police Chief said at a press conference on Friday.
Friday afternoon, gunfire broke out near the Diseases Control Center and Emory University in Atlanta. A Decal County police officer was killed. Another law enforcement officer was injured and transferred to the hospital.
Local officials said four bullet holes were found on the walls of the CDC campus.
“At this time, we are asking the community prayers for his family, friends, loved ones and the family of the Dikaleb District Provincial Police Department. It is a noble profession that we all do,” said Greg Badrik, Chief of Decal County Police.
The Dikaleb Province police identified the officer as Rose David later on Friday, describing him as “diligent in his duty to protect our society” on social media.
Susan Monarerez, director of the Disease Control Center, praised the response of law enforcement officials in time to shoot.
“We are at the Center for Disease Control Sad because of today’s attack on the Royal campus, which is still in a locking position with the authorities investigating the shooting,” she said in a statement. “The brave local law enforcement officer gave his life, and another was wounded, after a gunman opened fire on at least four buildings from the Center for Disease Control.”
The shooter was found that died at the scene with a gunshot. It is unclear whether it has been affected in particular or whether an officer has been shot. It was a white male, according to Paul Brown, the Undersecretary of the FBI, indicated that his motivation was not determined.
However, CNN stated that, according to the law enforcement official, the police are working on the assumption that the shooter believes that he is sick and blames the vaccine in the Covid-19 vaccine.
“Once again for men and women who work in the center of diseases control, we know that you have been subjected to great relief in the past year and that my heart comes out to you because the uncertainty was about your occupation and that you are a citizen of Atlanta and this means something for me, and after that this day happens.”
He added: “We are with you, and we stand with you and do our best to make sure that we are determined to this position.”
