The Autism Society says RFK Jr.’s comment is ‘unreal and confusing’
The US Autism Society leadership is pushing back against the recent commitment to find the cause of the autism spectrum disorder against Robert F. Kennedy, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy.
Kennedy promised to launch a “huge test and research effort” on Thursday to determine what happened to “Autism epidemic” by September.
“We consider that unrealistic and misleading,” Christopher Banks, president and CEO, president and CEO of the American Autism Society.
Banks and America’s Chief Marketing Officer Christine Roth’s Autism Society has agreed that the autism spectrum disorder has a “significant need” for further investment and certified research for better understanding.
However, they said lack of transparency around Kennedy’s proposed effort. It is unclear what method will be used in the process.
In the past, Kennedy has promoted the dedic belief that vaccines are somehow connected to the growing rate of autism spectrum disorder. And Thursday he said that the new effort “hundreds of scientists around the world” will be involved.
Banks and chariots fear that if the Kennedy test and research attempts are conducted by people who believe in the theories that are believed to be the cause of autism, then decades of progress in understanding this condition and treatment will undone.
Roth said, “The disabled community, global scientific and medical communities have all come together that there is no direct connection between vaccine and autism, and for decades, millions of people have been studied through strict, strict studies that have not been found a link.”
Autism spectrum disorder is a complex development disability that is affected by genetic, biological and environmental factors. According to data of disease control and prevention centers, one out of 46 children in the United States was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, which was more than 1 out of 5 in 2018.
According to the non -profit agency Autism Speaks, this rise is an increased awareness of the condition and the physicians have been associated with the detection of it.
Roth also added that the speed at which Kennedy is promising to find the cause is harmful to those who fight during autism diagnosis.
He said, ‘It is giving people a lot of false hopes.
Roth says that the possible future cuts of the National Health Institutes, Education Department and Medicaid have recently threatened the living standards of people with autism spectrum disorder and have made the future understanding of the condition, Roth said.
“Autism is referred to as a chronic disease … and using treatment terminology like ‘epidemic’ really makes autistic people inhuman and make stigma and stereotypes permanent,” he said. “This is the opposite of many progress that has been done in the past decade.”
