Qatar Airways appoints Hamad Ali Al Khater as the new Group CEO


  • Qatar Airways Group announced the appointment of Hamad Ali Al Khater as the new CEO of the group, effective December 7, 2025, succeeding Eng. Badr Muhammad Al-Mir.
  • Al Khater previously served as Chief Operating Officer at Hamad International Airport, where he led operational strategy, infrastructure expansion and passenger experience improvement. He also held senior positions at Qatar Energy Company, where he specialized in business development and strategic initiatives.
  • The group’s Board of Directors expressed its confidence in Al Khater’s leadership to continue driving Qatar Airways’ global growth and service excellence.

Qatar Airways Group announced the appointment of Hamad Ali Al Khater as the new CEO of the group, effective Sunday, December 7, 2025. Al Khater succeeds Eng. Badr Muhammad Al-Mir.

Al Khater joins the Qatar Airways Group from Hamad International Airport, where he held the position of Chief Operating Officer. In this capacity, he oversaw the safety and reliability of airport operations, led strategic direction, supported operational excellence, directed major infrastructure expansion, and led continuous improvement of the passenger experience.

Prior to his work at Hamad International Airport, Al Khater held senior positions at Qatar Energy Company, focusing on business development, deal execution, and leading large-scale strategic and operational initiatives.
