The best kitchen composers (2025), test and review

Kitchen Kitchen Composer is a lovely landscape. Instead of a bucket of lesions of vegetables and brown coffee you are growing fruit flies on your counter or a mice to your backyard, you can only put it in a new electric tool, and in the uncertain future you will use a rich compost to use nutrients in the future.

Unfortunately, none of the popular electric cars in the market do so. Even if some of these devices are marketed as “composites” and have leaflets and training programs that show all the ways to use compost, the overwhelming majority of kitchen composites only intend to dry your food waste. Your garbage outlet will be greatly reduced in volume and will no longer smell, but if you hope to put egg shells and banana peel into a machine and bring out the magic of the actual compost you buy in the center of the garden, that doesn’t just happen.

He said, you Can Mix small quantities of these lands in very small ratios in pots, or use them as a feeder for a “real” composting candle, but most of these devices are intended for those who want to reduce the volume of food. Which in itself is a legitimate goal, as casting food accounts for 24 % of municipal solid waste and as a result, it causes methane to spread a destructive greenhouse gas because it breaks down in the landfill.

Or maybe you would like to be precisely to be free of their own smell and stable food before adding them to your green trash for your municipal compost or courtyard compost. In any case, despite the screams of critics of the green washing and astronomy of the company, these devices are still valuable. They make people more aware of their food waste. They don’t use power as much as you think (about 1 kWh was ordinary). And our superior selection, Reencle Prime (8/10, Wired recommends), even produces something Close Compost

How I tested

I am a senior Wired business editor in charge of home and kitchen devices and I have been reviewing products for our gear segment for the past 10 months. I cook for my three -person family daily, and since the summer of 2024 in my home kitchen, I have been paying my kitchen waste in these compounds in my home kitchen. Each was tested under normal home use for at least four weeks and in several cases six weeks or more. I tested all the cycles provided and with all kinds of permissible foods according to the manual, and in the case of ReENCle and the mill, I even tried to use the end product in my yard and plants (for different impact).

In general the best

As mentioned earlier, none of these composting devices really are ready to use, but ReanCle Prime (10/10 recommends) approaches a traditional compost bucket. Popular in South Korea years before it appeared in the United States, Reencle contains an active carbon, wooden bullets, glucose, and a triple -recorded microbes ready to come down with a ReneColerobe starter (which can be purchased separately for $ 65). There is also a pre -adjusted carbon filter that rotates back.
