If you’re shopping for a laptop on Black Friday, you’re probably looking for something a little more affordable. And while the MacBook Air is the better laptop, there’s no doubt that the Dell 14 Plus is the best. transaction. The phone has great specs: 16GB of RAM, 512GB of storage, and an Intel Core Ultra 5 226V. I reviewed the Core Ultra 7 258V model, but either way, you get great battery life and integrated graphics performance.

Most importantly, it avoids the two main problems of budget laptops: a poor display and a touchpad. Dell 14 Plus has a high resolution display (2560 x 1600) and a very smooth touch screen. It’s literally a premium laptop at an affordable price, and at $500, it’s officially the best laptop deal on Black Friday. However, this is a door-to-door style sale, so the price may change once it is sold.

Apple

MacBook Air (M4, 2025)

Since its release this spring, the M4 MacBook Air has been the best laptop you can buy. Also, its price has been slowly reduced month by month, and now it is down to $749. That’s so low that it’s not worth buying a cheaper, older MacBook Air, like the M2 model. The difference in performance (and external display support) is worth much more. The M5 is likely to arrive as early as 2026, but it will take a long time for the M4 to drop in price now. Come and get it while it’s hot.

I’ve rounded up the best Black Friday MacBook deals here for more recommendations and discussion on which MacBook deal is right for you.

There’s never been a Chromebook priced as well as the Acer Chromebook Plus 516 — at least not on its current Black Friday. Despite being a new laptop this year, it’s nice to see the price drop below $300 and make the higher spec Chromebook Plus devices available to just about everyone. Although the display and performance at this price are much higher than other Chromebooks. My biggest concern with cheap laptops is the poor touchpad quality. And even there, the Acer Chromebook Plus 516 has a touchscreen that will make you hate your life.

Another good Chromebook deal

Flex 5i Chromebook Plus

There are Chromebooks I like better than the Lenovo Flex 5i Chromebook Plus (8/10, WIRED recommends), like the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14. But none of them are this cheap. And while the Acer Chromebook Plus 516 above is a better deal, you might want something a little more compact with a smaller screen or perhaps a touchscreen. At $350, the Lenovo Flex 5i Chromebook Plus is one of the most affordable Chromebook Plus models you’ll find—it’s in a different league than standard Chromebooks at this price point. It has a better screen, faster performance, more storage and even a sharper webcam. The Flex 5i Chromebook Plus even has a hinge and a 360-degree touchscreen, sweetening the deal even more.

MacBook Air is better value, yes. And the M4 Pro or M4 Max MacBooks are more powerful. But the entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro is the only Mac right now with the latest M5 chip, which came out just a month ago. I wish Apple had included more features in this update, as the M5 is the only change from the M4. The good news is that the M5 MacBook Pro (8/10, WIRED recommends) offers a decent performance boost in all areas, including the CPU, GPU, and even the neural engine. Even more important is the $200 discount just one month after launch.

The best gaming laptop offer

Want a gaming laptop that doesn’t really look like a gaming laptop? That’s what the Razer Blade 14 (8/10, WIRED recommends) has always been good at. If it weren’t for the green logo on the lid, you might never know that this product has a powerful discrete GPU inside. You certainly wouldn’t be able to tell from the size of the laptop, which is very compact. It even has a decent battery life for a gaming laptop. And when it comes to gaming, the high-resolution 120Hz OLED display keeps your games crisp and smooth, while the RTX 5060 (or 5070) performs well for its size.

Microsoft

Surface Pro 13-inch (11th edition, 2024)

The OLED Surface Pro was great when it launched in mid-2024. It was the first time the Surface Pro had an OLED panel, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus/Elite chip finally gave the Windows tablet the performance and battery life it needed to compete with the iPad Pro. The only problem? It was very expensive. But for Black Friday, the OLED Surface Pro is discounted by $500, bringing the price down to just $900. One thing to keep in mind is that you’ll still need to buy a Surface Type Cover Keyboard to pair it. Together, you have a 2-in-1 laptop that’s the perfect travel companion and the perfect PC replacement.

A very light laptop

The Asus Zenbook A14 is one of the lightest laptops you can buy right now. At 2.16 pounds, it’s relatively lighter than even the MacBook Air. Throw this thing in your bag, and you’ll hardly notice it’s there. This makes it a great option for students who need to walk around campus or frequent travelers who bring their work on the go. But what really makes this laptop special is the lack of compromises it makes to reach this weight. It is well made, thin and has a comfortable keyboard and touchpad. And thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus inside, it has great battery life. I also like the glossy OLED screen. So while the Dell 14 Plus is a more powerful Windows laptop with a higher-resolution screen, the portability of the Zenbook A14 is hard to beat — especially at this price.

A solid budget laptop

Asus

Vivobook 14 (X1407QA)

The Asus Vivobook 14 is one of the few Snapdragon X-powered laptops that delivers efficient performance and great battery life at surprisingly low prices. It’s $200 off for Black Friday, bringing it down to the same price as Amazon’s last Prime Day. There’s really only one problem: the Dell 14 Plus. By any measure, this is the laptop you should buy. Not only is it cheaper, but it also has a more integrated display, touchpad, and GPU performance. However, if you’ve run out of limited Doorbuster prices on the Dell 14 Plus, the Asus Vivobook 14 is your next best bet for Windows laptops at this price point.

What to Look for in a Black Friday Laptop Deal

Shopping for a good Black Friday deal isn’t much different than shopping for a laptop any other time of year. We never recommend products that we don’t test ourselves, so if you’re interested in a particular laptop on this list, check out the corresponding review. But while shopping, you might want to consider the following specs along with the current laptop price:

  • CPU
  • GPU
  • memory (RAM)
  • Storage
  • Screen resolution, panel type and refresh rate
  • battery life

Finally, consider price history. CamelCamelCamel is a useful tool for viewing some historical data on individual laptop price drops. Some of the laptops above (like the Dell 14 Plus) are hitting all-time lows in price, while others are back at their Prime Day lows. That’s not to say these aren’t necessarily good deals, but it’s important to know that not all deals labeled “Black Friday deal” are created equal, even if the percentage off looks similar. Many products these days have permanent discount prices at retailers, which can obscure how much they actually sell for.

For an in-depth breakdown that explains every element of the laptop, read our detailed guide on how to choose the right laptop.

Is now a good time to buy a laptop?

yes Black Friday isn’t the only big shopping event of the year, and it’s not uncommon to find good deals on laptops at other times, whether it’s on a random day or on Amazon’s Prime Day(s). But Black Friday is still important as the start of the holiday shopping season. The entire annual laptop refresh cycle revolves around this time. The beginning of the year begins with the introduction of many products at CES and then launches throughout the year. By the time Black Friday rolls around, companies and retailers alike are looking to clear out inventory to make room for fresh new merchandise, which is why we still often see the biggest Black Friday deals.

This year, that schedule even applies to MacBooks. Since Apple didn’t update any 14-inch M5 MacBook Pros this fall, laptops like the M4 MacBook Air or M4 Pro/Max MacBook Pro will be discounted in anticipation of an update in early 2026.
