Jeffrey Epstein claimed to have detailed knowledge of Donald Trump’s views in texts with adviser Bill Gates.
The next day, he sent Epstein a link to a Commentary article about Trump’s election and the US economy. “Good article for Trump,” he wrote.
On March 4, Melanie texted Epstein. “Bg meets Trump March 20/21,” in apparent reference to Gates. (Gates actually met with Trump at the White House on March 20, 2017. White House press secretary Sean Spicer said the meeting was about fighting the global pandemic.)
“It’s a waste of time,” Epstein replied. In an apparent reference to the current US ambassador to Türkiye, “he should meet the barracks”.
On March 6, Epstein and Melanie continued to text about Trump and Gates.
In an apparent reference to a supposed peace meeting on the Middle East situation, Epstein wrote: “Israel – tell the bill of Paris week 21.”
Melanie replied: “Peace? W Jared and Tony Blair and all those people? I’m not sure they’re more interested in technology than the peace process.” He says he talks to Jared a lot.
Epstein replied, “Peace isn’t boring and it doesn’t happen. Grow up.”
(While the March 2017 Paris peace summit did not appear to be happening, on March 10, days after sending the messages, Trump made his first phone call to Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, inviting him to visit the White House.)
In her March 6 messages, Melanie reminded Epstein that the meeting between Gates and Trump would take place later that month.
At the time, Epstein appeared to claim that a meeting would be held at his home to discuss a myriad of issues related to Israel, including, in a text message to Melanie: “Money control, insult. In my house, I know.” It is not clear whether the meeting took place or who attended it.
“Omg INVITE ME,” writes Melanie. “You can invite bg depending on guest list etc – Larry told him he can’t contact you so he’ll have to handle it carefully.” (This is an obvious reference to Larry Cohen, Gates’ longtime colleague. Cohen is the CEO of Gates Ventures and did not respond to a request for comment.)
“I don’t mind,” Epstein writes. “I love Bill. He gets more from me than I do. He needs to grow some balls and start loving.”
