OnlyFans goes to business school

OnlyFans has hit Founder of a lingerie company and former nude model to launch business classes on this platform.

Rachel McCree, longtime lingerie designer and founder of Spice Rack, is releasing four videos on OnlyFans Wednesday. The videos are quite different from the usual OnlyFans fare. They’ll focus on getting investors, building a brand, and being an entrepreneur as a woman, McCree tells WIRED. More videos will follow. She is also creating a Spice Rack x OnlyFans clothing line that will launch on the site later this year.

This move is OnlyFans’ first foray into creating content focused on building a business. It’s part of the platform’s ongoing effort to produce work-safe content that’s meant to complement the adult content it’s known for.

“OnlyFans is a community of more than 4 million creative businesses, so it makes sense that we’re the perfect platform to share entrepreneurship tips,” OnlyFans CEO Kelly Blair told WIRED in a statement. “As we’ve seen in other genres like comedy and sports, only one creator recognizes this opportunity and others follow suit.”

McCree, 48, said he met Blair at the Summit Baja tech conference last November when they pitched the idea.

As a former SuicideGirl — a community of alt-pinup girls founded in the early 2000s — she says she felt stigmatized by her past when she worked in corporate fashion. He says that at one of his jobs, while he was at work, his colleagues looked at pictures of his suicide girls.

“I just wanted to start crying,” she says.

Then she decided to start her own business, but McCrae says, “I already felt like I had to prove myself more by pitching underwear to tech VCs. According to the firm’s report, only 1 percent of VC-funded companies will be entirely run by women in 2024. Spice Rack, which McCree says is backed by Sequoia Partners China and Mucker Capital, is among them.

“Being naked on the Internet and raising venture capital from the biggest venture capital funds in the world is a very rare Venn diagram,” says McCree. We decided to hold a masterclass format of business classes. The first two classes will be free, while the others require a subscription to the McCree page.

Over the years, McCree says, many young women, including sex workers, have sought advice from him on how to start their own businesses or steer clear of adult content. After revealing her past as a suicide girl at a panel in 2022, she says an adult content creator came up to her and said, “I didn’t know you were naked on the Internet, and that makes me feel like I can have a job after this.”
