Using artificial intelligence to stay in the foreground
AGlobal charging sizes-driven by e-commerce, lithium battery charges, and high-value commodities-are not the spotlight on air aircraft security more clear. For Cathay Cargo, safety and organizational compliance are not just priorities; They are strategic necessities. From monitoring of artificial intelligence to CEV certificates and advanced cybersecurity, Hong Kong’s transportation company determines itself as a leader in goods security.
Lithium and e -commerce batteries
One of the greatest risks in air cargo today is an improper advertisement and dealing with lithium batteries, especially in e -commerce shipments. Cathay Cargo carried out a strengthened lithium battery examination program, which was first presented at its station in 2023 and since it was published to the air -organized cargo examination facilities for the RacSfs.
“The X -ray machines that support artificial intelligence are trained to identify the types of wrong batteries,” said Tom Owen, the director of goods. “We have also published surveillance systems in an actual time that warns us to unsafe charges or unauthorized access points.”
Cathay’s Cargo Agent (CaOP) is another major measure-calling for a unification of how to examine and process electronic commerce charges through its network.
He added: “We are pre -emptive practices and updates with the examination facilities, and to ensure compatibility with the latest security intelligence.”
Amnesty International on the slope road
In November 2024, the Cathay Cargo Terminal station became the first air freight freight facility to integrate artificial intelligence with CCTV infrastructure. The regime is now monitoring safety and goods in the workplace for security risks, such as a missing protection equipment, unsafe vehicle movements, and suspicious behavior.
The solution has been developed in partnership with Intenseye, in actual time alerts, while plans are underway to expand thermal imaging in 2025 to discover abnormal cases in the temperature associated with potential battery defects or fire risk.
“We are in constant contact with powers such as the Australian Ministry of Internal Affairs,” Owen explained, “especially on pre -download policies such as improved border requirements (EBR).”
Cathai is also preparing for the next jump in innovation: Merging the LLMS models into import/export control. “It is still under development, but we believe that LLMS will play a vital role in examining documents and informing the contradictions more accurately than traditional systems,” Owen said.
Vertion of the digital front
With more online charging, cybersecurity has become a major column for Cathy charging strategy. The airline has published a safe solution to the (SASE) access to the integrated network systems and monitoring threats.
Owen said: “Electronic risks are not theoretical – it works,” Owen said. “For this reason, we adopted the Devsecops approach, identifying and fixing weaknesses of the development process before going on the air.”
The airline is also upgrading its goods systems to verify incomplete or suspicious data procedures in close cooperation with Global Logistic System (HK), LTD.
From safe goods to high -value trust
Security does not stop at the disclosure. The Cathy Cathy Safe production line specifically serves high -value charges such as medicines, fine arts and luxury goods. Each shipment takes advantage of CCTV monitoring, trained treatments and a dedicated safety plan. One of the prominent examples: the safe delivery of cultural cultural factories from China is the mainland to the Hong Kong Palace Museum.
Cathai is also developing the port profiles for the port, based on the actual threat assessments, to enter dynamic safety measures when needed.
Looking at the future, Owen believes that Ai Agentification and Blockchain as two techniques are ready to divert goods. “Artificial intelligence agents will not only respond to threats-they will respond to them. Blockchain will give us the safe and subscriber data model needed to see comprehensive shipping.”
Cathay is already a major partner in the HKIA shipping data platform, which uses Blockchain to facilitate safe exchange of data and enhance compliance.
Ultimately, for Cathy charging, technology is not an alternative to people – it is enhancing. “We are still investing in training,” Owen said. “From the inspection of aircraft to the treatment of live animals, our employees are our strongest defense line.”
