Biden has completed radiation treatment for cancer
Former President Biden completed a round of radiation therapy Monday to treat his aggressive former prostate cancer, a Biden spokeswoman said.
The course lasted several weeks, and the former president is “doing well,” the spokeswoman told The Hill’s sister network, News Nation.
He did not comment on whether Biden’s medical team thinks he will need additional rounds of radiation treatment.
Earlier this month, a spokesman for the former president said, “President Biden is currently undergoing radiation therapy and hormone treatment as part of his prostate cancer treatment plan.”
NBC News, citing a source familiar with the matter, reported at the time that the treatment was expected to last five weeks.
Biden, 82, was diagnosed with cancer in May. A spokesman at the time said the disease was “characterized by a Gleason score of 9 (grade group 5) with bone metastasis” and appeared to be “hormone-sensitive” allowing for management.
Following his initial diagnosis this spring, Biden took to social media to express his gratitude for the outpouring of support following his announcement.
“Cancer touches us all. Like many of you, Jill and I have learned that we are strongest in broken places,” Biden wrote on the social platform X, sharing a photo of himself, former first lady Jill Biden, and their cat, Willow.
