The Turkish shipping company strengthens its fleet with four new Boeing 777 freighter aircraft

  • Turkish Airlines’ global air cargo subsidiary, Turkish Airlines, has added its ninth Boeing 777 Freight (777F) aircraft to its fleet. The company will receive three additional Boeing 777F aircraft by mid-2026.
  • The Boeing 777F is distinguished by its high efficiency, fuel economy and technical reliability on intercontinental flights, and will operate on long-haul scheduled routes with a non-stop range of 9,200 km, primarily to the Americas and the Far East.

Ali Türk, Chief Cargo Officer at Turkish Airlines, said: “At Turkish Airlines, we will expand our fleet of Boeing 777F aircraft to 12 aircraft in 2026, gaining an additional annual capacity of approximately 220,000 tons. This growth will contribute to simplifying our fleet and achieving sustainability goals, while enabling us to offer greater capacity to our business partners.

In addition to the benefits of fleet expansion, the addition of more Boeing 777F aircraft represents a strategic investment that enhances our operational capabilities through their extended range, superior payload capacity and improved fuel efficiency. Guided by our growth strategy focusing on wide-body cargo ships, Turkish Shipping will continue to provide effective solutions to global trade needs.

“We are excited to build on our partnership and support the Turkish freighter in its growth strategy as more 777 Freighters join its fleet,” said Paul Righi, Boeing’s vice president of sales and marketing for Eurasia and India. “The 777 Freighter’s unique capabilities will enhance its operations with the capacity and reach to support the growing demand in the freighter market.”

As one of the world’s fastest growing air cargo brands, Turkish Airlines today provides services to more than 350 destinations in 134 countries and carries approximately 2 million tons of air freight annually.

Within the scope of Turkish Airlines Vision 2033 and its target of a fleet of 813 aircraft, the Turkish cargo carrier aims to increase its cargo fleet from 28 to 44. This growth is supported by SMARTIST 2.0 investment, digitalization efforts, proprietary cargo solutions, and a team of dedicated experts.

With the enhanced capacity and operational capacity provided by the modern fleet, Istanbul’s position as a strategic hub in global air transport is further strengthened.
