Greene says she felt more pressure over Epstein’s petition than any other case

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) said Tuesday she faced more pressure on a petition to bring about a House vote forcing the release of files linked to Jeffrey Epstein than on any other issue.

“My signature on the discharge petition, and there’s never been another case where I’ve received more pressure than that, and I’m pretty devastated. I can’t imagine — I’ve never understood how this could be an issue,” Green told Blake Borman on The Hill.

“I think when it comes to women being raped, especially when they were 14, it’s pretty black and white,” she added.

The Georgia representative is one of only four Republicans to sign the discharge petition that would force a vote on the full release of the Epstein case files. Greene remains a staunch supporter of the president, but repeatedly broke with her party during his second term, on both the Epstein files and foreign policy issues.

I previously reported getting “a lot” of burnout from the White House for supporting the discharge petition.

In recent months, the Trump administration has faced intense backlash over its handling of files linked to Epstein from both sides of the aisle.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said Tuesday his delay in swearing in Democratic Rep. Adelita Grijalva (Ariz) was not related to her upcoming signature of the discharge petition.

“It has nothing to do with that at all,” Johnson said at a press conference. “We will split it up when everyone comes back.”

When asked about the timing of Grijalva’s swearing-in, Johnson said: “We’ll schedule it, I think, whenever she wants. It has nothing to do with it.”

“The people of Southern Arizona deserve representation and I am ready to act,” Grijalva said in a post Monday. “Swear to me now speakerjohnson!”

On Monday, President Trump said he would need to talk to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and take a look at the case of Ghislaine Maxwell, a former Epstein associate, in the wake of the Supreme Court declining to review her sex trafficking conviction from 2021.
