Two families prosecute Tesla on the design of the doors after the death of the crash
Two separate families filed a lawsuit against Tesla on Thursday because of the design of their doors, claiming that they prevented their kidney children from escaping from the burning internet line after they crashed last November.
The 19 -year -old Krysta Tsukahara’s parents and 20 -year -old Jacques Nelson filed a lawsuit against the California Electric Car Maker, under the pretext that Tesla Electric handles have become non -functional in the accident.
“This issue is caused by the catastrophic design defects in Tesla Cybletruck, which has turned into a survivor’s shattering to a fatal fire,” says the family suit in Nelson.
Tsukhara and Nelson were riding on the Internet with Surin Dixon, 19, and another passenger in November 2024 when it was shattered. Tsukhara and Nelson survived the initial accident, but he died in the fire that later broke out. Dixon was also killed, while the fourth passenger survived.
After the car’s electronic door handles failed in the accident, the rescuers were unable to open the door from the outside. A hand -backup version inside the car “hidden below the map pocket lining at the bottom of the door”, which the Nelson family argues were not feasible to use in the wake of a crash.
“These defects have created an expected and unreasonable danger in the deviation of preoccupation and death in the event of a collision, which led to the loss of power, which makes the car a trap of death,” says the family suit in Tsukahara.
Families argue that Tesla was well aware of these issues, after the previous incidents in which their doors failed to work.
The National Road Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in September that it was opening an investigation into the doors on Tesla Model Y after several reports on the handles are not valid to work. Tesla also summoned more than 46,000 electronic companies in March after determining a defect that could fly a panel of pick -up truck.
The hill reached Tesla for comment.
