EU confirmed that he had returned sanctions to Iran
The European Union confirmed on Monday that they had returned sanctions against Iran, following a similar step to Iran by the United Nations.
“Today, the European Union returns sanctions to Iran in response to its continuous non-compliance with a nuclear agreement. The door to diplomatic negotiations remains open,” the EU president said in a statement.
The EU said the sanctions included freezing the assets of the Iranian central bank and other Iran banks, as well as the travel ban on certain Iranian officials.
The EU also prohibits the purchase and transportation of Iranian crude oil and the sale or supply of gold and certain naval equipment.
On Sunday, the United Nations returned the embargo of weapons and other sanctions against Iran over its nuclear program after the process triggered by European power that had been warned Tehran would meet with a hard response.
Britain, France and Germany initiated the return of sanctions against Iran on the UN Security Council on the accusation that they had violated the 2015 agreement aimed at stopping them to develop nuclear bombs. Iran denies looking for nuclear weapons.
