Astronomers have found 6,000 planets outside the solar system

Number NASA said that the planets approved outside our solar system – known as planets – reached 6,000. The Space Agency says there is a great deal of diversity in these distant worlds, with discoveries such as stone planets, lava worlds and gasoline giants that cover their stars.

There are much more discoveries on the way. As a result, there are more than 8,000 potential planets that have been identified and are awaiting approval. The US Space Agency has planned with future missions, including the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope and the Observatory of the Honor World, hoping to discover planets and land -like worlds with potential signs of life.

This turning point comes 6,000 planets 30 years after the discovery of the first planets rotating a star similar to our sun. “This turning point represents decades of cosmic exploration led by NASA space telescopes-a discovery that has changed the way humanity observes to the night sky,” said Shawon Domagal-Goldman, Astrophysical Acting Director in NASA’s headquarters. “Step -by -step, from discovery to characterization, NASA’s missions have created the basis to answer a fundamental question: Are we alone?”

With the increase in the number of approved planets, the scientific community has been able to create a picture of the planet’s population around the world. Researchers estimate that stone planets appear to be the most common in the world. They have also discovered the planets as customer as they are closer to their star than Mercury is closer to our sun or two -star planets. Some of the world discovered are covered in lava. Others are surrounded by clouds of precious stones.

“Each of the different types of planets we discover is information about the conditions in which the planets can form, and finally, shared planets such as Earth and where to look for them,” said Dawn Gelino. “If we want to find out if we are alone in the world, all this knowledge is essential.”

Although the number of approved planets has reached 6,000, there are only about 100 people that scientists have been able to view directly. This is because the light from the distant world is often so weak that it is mixed in the light emitted by the parent star. So the methods of diagnosis are indirect. One of the most common transit methods, which includes the identification of the planet by observing IT stars, which, from our point of view, is slightly diminished for a short time.
