More than 120 liberal non -profit groups prompted the expected repression by the administration of President Trump after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, saying that charitable works “exist to collect people together, not their dismantling.”

In the common message, signed by 136 organizations, they condemned political violence and any possible revenge that directed their way.

“Organizations should not be attacked by carrying out their duties or expressing their values ​​to support the societies that serve them. We reject attempts to exploit political violence to misunderstand our good work or restrict our basic freedoms, such as freedom of expression and freedom to provide them,” the organization said in a message on Wednesday. “Attempts to silence speech, criminalizing, distorting opposition views and reducing charity, undermining our democracy and harming all Americans.”

The message comes at a time when scrutiny against left -wing organizations in the United States by the Trump administration has increased after the killing of Kirk, co -founder of Turning Point Usa.

The president and other administration officials described these left -wing groups as playing a role in inciting violence, which raises fears that they may target as a result.

Some of the organizations that signed the message, such as the open community institutions of George Soros, the Takes Foundation and the Ford Foundation, were named by the administration after Kirk was killed in Utah.

Kirk was fired and killed during the speech of the Utah Valley University in Urim, Utah. The enforcement of the alleged killer law in the name of Tyler Robinson, a 22 -year -old Utah resident.

Trump renewed the “radical left” to kill Kirk last week.

The organization wrote in the joint message: “In a fragile and risky moment, we must rise to the higher level that we all want collectively.
