The best new feature iOS 26 has been in pixel phones for years
Of me The child was, when the unknown number calls, I answered the phone. Who can be at the other end? Literally everyone: A familiar, a remote, a serial killer who breathes dangerously in the opening.
While Apple’s future liquid glass refreshing on iOS 26 will probably be the fastest aspect of software update as it starts to the public on September 15, I believe that a smaller additive on iOS 26 may even have a greater impact on how to use iPhone owners from its devices.
The iPhone is finally calling a call. Halijeh. When launching, this feature supports calls caused by nine language, including English, Spanish and Japanese.
After updating your iPhone on iOS 26, you can automatically call and select the software via page calls from unknown numbers. In this case, an unknown number is any telephone number you have not interacted before.
When your phone automatically selects the call, a robotic sound from the caller asks your name and why they want to be in contact with you. Only after collecting the information, the iPhone rang and shows you the details in a bubble so you can decide to answer.
I visited this new option to see this new option while experimenting with the beta version of iOS 26. I constantly call a large number of unknown numbers that I completely use to answer the phone for anyone not stored on my contacts list.
With the imminent publishing of iOS 26, I can make informed decisions to ignore or answer these calls. And while most calls are still overlooked, I no longer have to wait until the caller starts to leave the voice message and a live transcription appears to decide on the screen.
Contact screening for iPhone owners will be new this fall, but users of some Android smartphones, such as Google Pixel, have a version of the tool called Screen Call that have been available for years. Lyubov Farafonova, product manager in Google, in a statement sent to Wired says millions of pixel users only use this feature in the United States. “This is one of the attributes of our fans’ interest,” he says.
Since the release of the 2018 call screening, Google has been trying to make synthetic audio voice more natural for callers. Also, while screening is ongoing, it has begun relevant answers as portable options so that users can easily communicate with unknown callers without really responding to the phone. Google is more likely to transfer contact screening to additional markets by the fall of this year.
“Pixel 10 owners in India can begin testing with the beta version of the manual contact screen. This feature initially works in English and Indian, with more languages and dialects on the way,” says Farfunova. “This will not only translate a function but also translate what the caller says to the screen robot will make life easier for those who do not speak the same caller.” Contact, manual or automatic display options will soon reach Pixel owners in Australia, Canada, Ireland and the UK.
