Japan said US trade agreements were not resolved, waiting for pharmacy, chip orders

Japan’s broad trade agreement with the United States “was not resolved,” because Washington had not issued an expected presidential order on the tariff for medicines and semiconductors, the Top Top Topostitor negotiator said on Saturday.

“While the President’s orders have been issued regarding adjustments to general tariffs and car and car parts rates, the President’s order for the status of countries liked for medicines and semiconductors has not been issued,” Ryosei Akazawa told reporters after returning from Talks in Washington.

“Therefore, it cannot be said that this is resolved,” said Akazawa, the Minister of Economic Policy of Japan, added that Tokyo would continue to urge the remaining orders.

Akazawa said Japan would start a full analysis of the economic impact of changing US car tariffs and how the conditions of Japan’s competitive trade compared to other countries.
