The Department of Defense is trying to pretend it calls the war department
Pentagon website And social media channels were reviewed by President Donald Trump on Friday to reflect the new personality of the US Department of War, defense. GOV changes to war.gov.
Trump signed an executive order on Friday, directed by the Pentagon, once again recognized as the Ministry of War and retired after World War II to show the US turn as the main against nuclear destruction.
At an oval administrative ceremony, Trump said the change is about attitude and said, “This is really about victory.”
“We won the first World War I, we won World War II, we won everything before and in the middle,” Trump said during the signature. “And then we decided to wake up and change our name to the Ministry of Defense.”
The order allows the Minister of Defense Pete Hegst and other officials to use titles such as “Minister of War” in official correspondence, although Trump also ordered Hegest to recommend the steps needed for permanent change.
“We want to commit crime, not just in defense, crime, nor defense,” Hegst said at a signature on Friday. “We want to collect fighters, not just defenders.”
Every previous name changes – from the Ministry of War, created by Congress in 1789, played by the Ministry of Defense in 1949 through the law. The Allies quickly introduced a bill to the so -called ministry of war on Friday, but the government seems to be looking for a solution anyway, as it has been done in the past, whether citing the vacuum cleaner or foreign aid. Currently, the “Ministry of War” is the title “Secondary” after the Ministry of Defense.
Within hours of Trump’s order, Pentagon officials used social media platforms. The official Facebook, Instagram and X -department accounts of the Department of Defense were reluctant to destroy the names and seals of the Ministry of War and conflict the labels with their legal identity.
From about 6pm ET on Friday, the new page of the Ministry of War still lists all other social channels and its website as using the name “Defense”, as the YouTube channel did.
To what extent this repayment may go, it is unclear, but any comprehensive effort will make taxpayers cost hundreds of millions of dollars, if nine billion dollars, from any sign, logo, uniform, computer system, and a piece of formal paper tied to the Pentagon identity around the world.
A previous attempt to recommend changes in the Military Facilities with the Confederation Memorial led to the projected cost of $ 39 million and only nine bases. The Ministry of Defense’s real estate portfolio includes hundreds of thousands of facilities, from main bases to small checkpoints around the world.
