Trump calls Harvard as a “joke” while threatening the money
President Trump described Harvard University as a “joke” amid their conflict and threats to cancel funding from the school.
“Harvard is a joke, he knows hatred and stupidity, and you should not receive federal funds,” Trump wrote in a post on the social truth early on Wednesday.
Harvard University was the first university on Monday to publicly reject the Trump administration demands to change its policies. Then the federal government stopped to two billion dollars of contracts, and Trump threatened to put out of tax exempt.
University lawyers rejected the demand to change the school’s leadership structure, the disciplinary policies of students, admission, and employment practices, in addition to submitting a quarterly report on progress and ending the diversified practices, shares and integration (DEI).
“No government – regardless of the party in power – should dictate what private universities can study, who can recognize and employ it, and any areas of study and investigation that they can follow,” said Alan Garper, President of Harvard University.
Trump criticized the school leaders, saying that they had “high -end salaries”, and they are some of the “worst and most inappropriate”.
After Harvard University rejected the administration’s demands on Monday, Trump put on Tuesday the idea of canceling the tax exemption status at the university. Most non -profit colleges and universities are exempt from paying federal income taxes because they are classified as educational tasks.
Harvard’s teaching staff raised a legal action on Friday after sending Trump’s demands, echoed by faculty at Columbia University. Colombia has witnessed a loss of $ 400 million in federal scholarships after the lawsuit, and since then it has settled for the administration’s demands, but it has not witnessed the funding that was recovered yet.
Harvard University received support from Stanford University and Yale University in its legal battle. Schools were seeking to defend freedom of expression and enhance the autonomy of the university and were looking to join together against political intervention.
The ivy association received support from former President Obama. He said that Harvard gave an example of other higher education institutions by rejecting the administration’s attempt to “strangle academic freedom.”
Trump, in office on Wednesday morning, Harvard criticized its former president. From late 2023 to early 2024, former Harvard President Claudine Jay faced a decline in the school’s practices towards combating anti -Semitism after it was grilled by lawmakers at Capitol Hill. She was later accused of impersonating various papers.
Trump wrote: “Look only to the recent past to their president, plagiarism, which Harvard has greatly embarrassed to the United States … Congress,” Trump wrote. “When it became so bad that they were unable to take her anymore, they transferred this woman very incompetent to another site, studying, instead of launching her immediately.”
“Many others, such left -wing drugs, study at Harvard University, and because of this, Harvard can no longer be considered a decent place to learn, and should not be considered in any list of great universities or colleges in the world.”
