The European Union leader said Ukraine must have the freedom to decide his future

Ukraine must have the freedom to decide their own future, said European Union member countries on Tuesday, considering faster than talks between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday.

European leaders and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskiy plans to talk to Trump on Wednesday, before the Summit in Alaska, in the midst of concerns that Washington, which until now is a leading Supplier of Ukraine, can determine the term unfavorable peace for Kyiv.

“Meaningful negotiations can only occur in the context of a ceasefire or reducing hostility,” leaders of all European Union countries except Hungary said in a joint statement, adding: “We share the belief that diplomatic solutions must protect the interests of Ukraine and European vital security.”

Progress of Russia in East Ukraine

Trump said that any peaceful agreement would involve “some regional exchanges with the improvement of” Russia and Ukraine, which encouraged concern in Kyiv and the European capital because almost all of the regions in question were Ukraine.

Ukraine’s official deepstate war map shows that Russia suddenly jumped north as much as 10 km (six miles) in two branches near Dobropillia, close to their main target Pokrovsk, on their way to take full control over the Donetsk region.

Tatarigami_ua, a former Ukraine officer who tracks conflict, posted on X that “In 2014 and 2015, Russia launched a big attack before negotiations to get influence. The current situation is serious, but far from the collapse of several suggestions”.

Meanwhile the Kyiv military said that he had reclaimed two villages in the eastern region of Sumy on Monday, part of a small reversal in more than a year of slow Russian profits and atrition in the southeast.

Russia, which launched Ukraine’s full scale invasion in February 2022, has carried out a new attack this year in Sumy after Putin demanded a “buffer zone” there.
Kyiv and the Allies -Europe, worried that Trump, who wanted to claim credit for making a peaceful and sealed business agreement with Moscow, could basically appreciate Russia for 11 years attempts to seize the territory of Ukraine, the last three in an open war.

Ukraine European Link to its own safety

“Ukraine who is able to defend itself effectively is an integral part of every security guarantee in the future,” European statements said that the EU countries were ready to contribute further to security guarantees.
Zelenskiy welcomed the EU statement, adding a message in X that Russia was preparing a new offensive operation.

“Indeed, we all support President Trump’s determination, and together we must form a position that will not allow Russia to deceive the world once again,” he said.

However, Prime Minister Hungarian Viktor Orban, Putin’s main allies in Europe, mocked the statement from his European Union colleagues.

“The fact that the EU was abandoned in the midst of quite sad.

“The only reason that makes sense for EU leaders is to start the EU-Russian Summit, based on the example of the US-Russian meeting.”

Trump has hardened his establishment of Moscow, agreed to send more US weapons to Ukraine and threaten a large trading tariff for Russian oil buyers in the ultimatum that has now passed.

Even so, Trump’s prospect that accommodated Putin in the US land for the first US Summit since 2021 has revived concerns that he might put a narrow US interest before the security of European allies or broader geopolitics.
