Firefly Green Fuels Partners with SANEPAR waste giant
Firefly Green Fuels, a British airline developer (SAF), has signed a Memorandum Memorandum (MO) with SanePar, one of the largest water and sanitation companies in Brazil. This strategic partnership strengthens Firefly to the sustainable raw materials for biofuel production with the expansion of its scope in the Brazilian market and the growing Latin America.
Through this new cooperation, Firefly Green Fuels and SanePar will explore the joint opportunities to convert locally assembled biological solids (wastewater) into advanced biofuels, including SAF. The established infrastructure network is placed in SanePar as a critical partner to secure the reliable offer from the raw materials needed to meet the growing global demand on SAF.
The British company Firefly has developed an innovative path of sustainable fuel that uses a process known as aquaculture. This process allows the company to change chemical wastewater waste, and destroy it into materials known as Biocrde and Biochar. Biocrde is then upgraded to SAF and other fuel, while vital coal can be used in a set of other applications.
Securing the expansion of raw materials and expanding the market
The partnership with SanePar is a major milestone for Firefly, ensuring stable and varied wardrobe supply for SAF production. By taking advantage of the wide waste resources in Brazil, Firefly is preparing to enhance their global access and support airlines in their mission to remove carbon operations.
“Brazil has emerged as a global biofuel leader, and this partnership with SanePar is strengthening Firefly in this growing fast market,” said James Higitt, CEO of Firefly Green Fuels.
“The Memorandum of Understanding reflects our commitment to our mission – to remove carbon flying and address climate change. With the Brazil government strengthening biofuel activity through modern legislation and incentives, we are excited about the opportunities that this partnership will open for both our company and customers in the future.”
Brazil is vital momentum
Brazil has been a player in the biofuel industry for decades, and the country’s recent policy advertisements have strengthened their position as a leader of renewable energy. In 2024, the Brazilian government announced a series of new measures aimed at expanding biofuel production, including an authorization to increase the percentage of biofuels in transport and investment in new technologies for SAF production.
With the inhabitants of the vast urban, Brazil is in a good position to increase the Firefly unique production path. The Brazilian government is invested extensively in the update of the waste processing infrastructure in Brazil, which will provide to take into account a large and continuous amount of waste materials.
