Graham “Trump is confident” will move away from the summit if Putin insists on a bad deal.
Senator Lindsey Graham (RS.C.), a major supporter of the increase in sanctions on Moscow and its allies, indicated on Saturday that he supported President Trump’s decision to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Summit for former President Ronald Reagan with former Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev before the end of the Cold War and the subsequent fall of the Soviet Union, Graham said he was “confident” in Trump.
The Republican wrote in South Carolina on the social platform x. “
“The world should withdraw you. I know that I am,” he added.
The notes follow Trump’s announcement on Friday that he will meet with the Russian leader in Alaska next week to discuss the end of the war that lasted for more than three years in Ukraine.
The president suggests that Eastern European countries exchange land in an attempt to quickly track a peace deal. Ukrainian President Foludmir Zelinski, who was not invited to the next summit, rejected the idea and urged the United States to give Kiev a seat on the table.
Trump also cleaned the reports that he wanted Putin and Zellinski first.
“He would like to meet me,” he told reporters, adding, and I will do everything I can to stop killing. “
The very expected conversation also comes as criticism is escalating after Trump’s threat has not been achieved to strike Russia with new sanctions. The president originally gave Putin about 50 days to accept the conditions of the ceasefire, but later he shortened the schedule with Wasil Kremlin hit Ukraine.
However, Trump announced a tariff of up to 50 percent of India to buy Russian oil, a step that apparently pushed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi near Russia. Secondary sanctions were part of a two-party management led by Graham and Senator Richard Blumentel (D-Conn) with the aim of entering the war machine in Russia.
“Remember, while India is our friend, we have, over the years, have done relatively few businesses because their tariffs are very high, among the highest in the world, and they have the most heavy and abusive commercial barriers in any country.”
Legitimacy has largely left the implementation of sanctions in the hands of Trump. On Saturday, Graham pushed critics, and praised Trump for his willingness to speak with Putin immediately before financial restrictions.
“For those who criticize President Trump for being ready to meet Putin to end the bloodbath in Ukraine – remember that Reagan met Gorbachev to try to end the Cold War,” Al -Senator wrote.
Amid the president’s commercial restrictions, Putin described strong ties with Moody and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Putin and Moody recently spoke on the phone and reached their alliance.
“I had a good and detailed conversation with my friend Putin. I thanked him for sharing the latest developments in Ukraine. We have also reviewed the progress of our bilateral agenda, and we reaffirmed our commitment to increased deepening the strategic partnership of India and Russians in India later this year.”
