Zeroavia has given the US Air Force grant to the independent hydrogen and hydrogen plane
Zeroavia has announced that it was chosen by AFWERX for the SMI’s Spear Research Scholarship to conduct a feasibility study focusing on integrating hydrogen into Cessna Caravan aircraft along with advanced aircraft automation technology. AFWerx Awards aim to address research questions with specific effects on the most urgent challenges in the Air Force Department (DAF).
Zeroavia will analyze the ability to develop and connect an independent plane with an 8,000 lb with hydrogen electricity for low engine noise and low thermal signature, which greatly reduces the discovery. Hydrogen fuel cells are a promising technique to improve the range, duration and time of the transformation of a group of unspecified electric air vehicles (UAV).
Hydrogen has additional advantages as a flying fuel as it can be produced at the fuel refueling point due to the provision of ready for electricity and water, which greatly simplifies fuel logistics – a decisive consideration of any defensive applications. Finally, hydrogen has the highest energy for each unit of the weight of any chemical energy source, allowing a possible maximum for more than 2000 nm (approximately 4000 km) in an independent plane of this type.

DAF began to present the SBIR/STR program for the open topic in 2018, which expanded the scope of the innovations that were funded by DAF and Zeroavia its journey to create and provide innovative capabilities that would enhance the national defense of the United States of America. The study will explore the possible effects of integration and operational technologies strategically in the form of independence and fuel cells.
Zeroavia prepares a certificate from the Hydrogen and Hydrogen Energy Group 600 kW-za600, which uses fuel cells to convert hydrogen fuel into electricity into electrical engines-with civil organizers. The first planned plane structure is Cessna Caravan, manufactured by Textron. The company recently announced an important organizational landmark after receiving the FAA G-1 version of the 600 kW electrical payment system.
Fal Mesthof, founder and executive president, Zeroavia said: “It is a very important indication that we see the US Air Force exploring the potential application of hydrogen fuel cells and electrical pushing in heavy manufactured aircraft. This feasibility study will provide a greater view of how to push hydrogen fuel cells to reduce the discovery and costs of air operations, and enhance the ability of autonomous air vehicles to supply fuel in the front operating environments.”
