Baltic Index Profit at a higher level, Supramax level
The Utik Baltic Exchange Sea Transportation Index, which tracks the tariff for ships transporting dry bulk commodities, rises for the third successive session on Friday, driven by profits in the Castesize and Supramax segments.
* The main index of BDI, which tracks the tariff for shipping shipping ships, Panamax and Supramax, added 43 points, or 2.1%, to 2,051 points. The index posts weekly profits.
* CAPESIZE Index (.BACI) rose 138 points, or 4.3%, at 3,343, the highest level since the end of July.
* The average daily income for Castesize Vessels (.batca), which usually transports 150,000 tons of cargo such as iron ore and coal, rose $ 1,140 to $ 27,716.
* Iron ore is lower for that day but records weekly profits, supported by exports of Chinese high record steel, strong factory margins, and low inventory.
* Among the smaller ships, the Supramax Index (.Bsis) added 3 points, or 0.2%, to 1,320. The index registered the sixth profit session in succession.
* Panamax Index (.BPNI) dropped 14 points, or 0.9%, at 1,635.
* The average daily income for Panamax ships (.BPWT), which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or seeds, down $ 133 to $ 14,712.
