Swissport begins operations at New Air Cargo Center in Auckland
Swissport has officially started its operations at the New Auckland Charging Center, which strengthened the imprint of the air cargo throughout New Zealand, the Asia and the wider Pacific region.
The new facility represents an important milestone for SwissSport shipping in the region, as it joins a network of modern air freight operations in seven major international airports across South Korea, Japan and Australia.
“We are proud to bring Swiss World’s global experience to Auckland,” said Joel Greg, Director General of Charging Operations in New Zealand and Australia.
In a strategic location with direct access from Airside via the checkpoint, the new facility extends over an area of 8,500 square meters of the handling area, including the receipt and weather sent areas. It is the first cargo station in Auckland with direct access to the airport, allowing the transport of goods faster and more efficient.
Swissport has invested in advanced equipment and digital systems to improve operational performance from the first day. The elbow is equipped with the largest X -ray machine at Auckland Airport and the latest goods examination technology that supports safe and effective charging productivity. A group of 46 CCTV cameras allows continuous monitoring and gives customers actual time to their charge.

The site was licensed as an control area and authorized by the Ministry of Primary Industries in New Zealand (MPI) as a transitional facility, allowing safe and inspection handling and processing import and export shipments. The station also includes large cold storage areas, with a platform shipping capacity of damaged goods including drugs, seafood, fresh products and meat-support the strong export market in New Zealand.
The global air freight market is increasing, driven by economies in South Asia, China, Southeast Asia and Africa, as well as expanding e -commerce and fast networks. Swissport continues investing in technology and operations designed to improve the flow of goods, ensuring the region’s air charging networks, including centers such as Auckland, an important role in this growth.
